Tree Spade Attachment Overview
A Tree Spade typically consists of several blades arranged in a circular or semi-circular pattern, which are driven into the ground around the tree to create a root ball. The attachment is mounted to the skid steer's hydraulic system, allowing operators to control the depth and angle of the blades as they work.
Once the root ball is formed, the tree can be lifted from its original location without damaging the roots. The tree spade attachment is ideal for landscaping projects, nurseries, and municipal maintenance tasks where trees need to be relocated without extensive manual labor or disruption to the root system. It enables the transplanting of trees of varying sizes, enhancing the efficiency and success rate of tree relocation efforts.

What types of trees are suitable for transplanting with a mini skid steer tree spade?
Mini skid steer tree spades can transplant a variety of deciduous and evergreen trees, including ornamental trees, shrubs, and smaller palms. The suitability depends on the size of the tree and the specific capabilities of the tree spade attachment being used.
How does a mini skid steer tree spade attachment operate?
Tree spades for mini skid steers are hydraulically powered and operated. They typically have multiple blades that close around the tree to create a root ball. Operators control the attachment from the skid steer's cab, adjusting the depth, angle, and operation of the blades as needed.
What are the benefits of using a mini skid steer tree spade?
Using a tree spade attachment with a mini skid steer offers several benefits, including reduced manual labor, precise digging and transplanting, minimal root disturbance, and the ability to access tight or confined spaces where larger equipment cannot maneuver easily.
Can a mini skid steer tree spade attachment be used for commercial landscaping projects?
Yes, mini skid steer tree spades are commonly used in commercial landscaping projects. They are ideal for nurseries, parks, golf courses, and urban environments where efficient tree transplanting is necessary without damaging existing landscapes.
What maintenance is required for a mini skid steer tree spade attachment?
Regular maintenance includes cleaning after use, greasing pivot points, and inspecting hydraulic hoses for wear and leaks. Blade edges should be checked and sharpened as needed to ensure efficient cutting and digging.
